12/28/2024 West Union pt4 to pt9, others did pt2 to pt9 and pt1 to 2.
A hiker mentioned they needed this and were looking for others to join, well many could not do during the week and ultimately that plan fell through anyway. Based on the interest I worked with Julie to find a time that works for her and hoped that would work for others. Seems it did. We had 11 show for the event and another 2 shuttled before. 6 went further for pt1 to pt2.

The sign for the end of the Joan Portman trail. For these hikers this is the start of it.
It's sorta funny- you can continue for 1400 miles but hey it will come back here lol
Nice view of a ridge
A bridge as you approach pt4
Woods are so nice here

The river
We were not sure about this bridge rumors were it's closed to cars, but it seems open. I think there was construction on the hill north of here to help the road
We were spread out and took over the road for much of this hike
Everyone on bridge
Another view of bridge
There is house on hill as you go so much stuff.
I had talked to him prior he formerly built custom cars.

More winding roads of nothing but country views
We tried a few places but we got the view at gift ridge.
A old tractor many can be seen along the trail. I just started capturing these.
I love cool mailboxes that are decorated.
Great vista
These guys have been here since puppies. At one time there were 3 of them in 2022 but today we only saw 2 and both on the road and friendly as could be.
More shots of the dogs
Hi puppy
Dog hanging with us
Another view of Creek
Creek to side of road
This old barn. It holds a place in my mind for me of a memory. When I came through years back there was a dog that forced me to turn back here. A longer walk became 4 miles and a disappointment. That's OK today it is safe and no dog no people no rv. You never know what challenge awaits you just have to know what is right for you to do. That day it was turn around and today keep going.
View from a distance to barn
That old barn another view from just past it and looking back down where I just came from.
More county roads
A few farms and I think the cows were here
Love cows on trail. Normally they come to fence, these guys seemed to run away. Maybe they wondered why are you walking on the road?
A welcome sign meaning we are close to the end of today's walk.
The small community of Bentonville.
Telephone pole and a marker show us the way.
That is a famous soda machine.
Anti Horse thief society marker is just slightly off trail
