6/1/2024 Williamsburg pt22 to pt27
Biggest Day Hike Woot
The Day started with Krista working on roundbottom rd heading to UDF in Perintown. I was to meet Eilizabeth at pt10 at 730am for a shuttle to pt1. First time meeting Elizabeth, a hiker from Michigan. She came through big for our Chapter efforts since the hiker she was going to be hiking with canceled on her. Back to meeting Krista at UDF and the timing was almost perfect. I drove her back to Findlay Ray Park and then we drove back to the UDF in Perintown. Krista drove me to Batavia and on to my piece a nice walk to the UDF in Perintown. Wow that's alot of visits to the UDF. I did points 22 to 27 a nice 7.18 miles. I met once again with Mr Keith, a nice man that helps local hikers and takes care of these that might need some water or a place to throw a tent. It does not take much to do alot. I also ran into Diane here and chatted as a group. I still had one more piece to do and so did Krista. Krista was going hope after she dropped me off to help with a missed piece for our event that afternoon THE FOOD A VERY SERIOUS MATTER INDEED. I was driving to my next spot getting ready for a hot out and back of a road walk, and I see someone that looks familiar. I turned around and sure enough it's Kyleigh walking what I had pledged and she also pledged it. I spoke with her a few minutes and found out it was to be an out and back for her and I told her to get in and we can solve this. So drove her back to her car. Off to the other side of the lake and the Celebration event. We had an ok turn out. We did have the AHS local board member come to our event. Krista and Toby came through HUGE and we had hot dogs and burgers. Ellie the hiking dog was also in attendance and quite happy to be out and seeing friends.

The hike
My car at pt10 for shuttle
Me after being dropped off in Batavia. Next to the coffee shop.
This hike is coffee shop to ice cream and a doable distance of road walk with services on each end.
The coffee shop on the corner pt22
Very down the street in Batavia
This is a historic sign for the railroad
Selfie for my challenge showing off the shirt for the adt challenge last year.
Walk past a few things here in town.
Post office
Getting toward the 32 exit that I need to cross
I am not sure who's signs but I like the display
Walking around the exit
A no outlet road that while no shade not much traffic on the weekend
I love this mailbox, it reminds me of the saw movies
Better shot of this mailbox
There is a no longer used road behind this barrier
Good view of the entrance and markings
Big tree, but the trail has evolved and gone around this.
Nice view of the trail here. It's hilly but beautiful. It's a nice welcome surprise for a mostly road walk.
Coming out of the woods. Last I was here 3years back they were just building these houses.
A barrier is here to block auto traffic
And back to normal road walk. Nice quite neighborhood.
I found this flower along the trail near a culvert.
Shade is always welcome on a road walk. Ohio is the world champ of roasting road walks.
Oh near a turn and some blazing is needed here due to replacement of pole
The old trail blaze you can't see it here but there are 2 poles
This is a bit dangerous and not much room to sides. Well some room but it's with our state plant - poison ivy. Just kidding but it's heavy there.
More road miles
More road miles
Down a nice hill to the intersection
Keep going around the curves
I don't know the story of the building here but I remember it from last time.
Cool old tractor
Can see the tracks here
Almost there
I remember this intersection and it means 2 more miles and my first time here I caught a uber on that corner and sat on the road rail.
I found the case and decided to fill it with trash.
Sadly it did not take long before it was full and just something to haul out.
Nice Barn
A cool house here.
Shade how I missed you my friend.
Peonies and some nice trees along the road
Mail box I believe for the house below. Nice.
A few cool houses down this way
More road
Thanks Diane for photo. This is me with Mr Kieth. A well known friend to the trail and hiker friendly.
The short road out
Road gets a bit tight here
Tried to get a view of the lake.
Back to good road
Just a bit more
Back at UDF in Perintown
