2/20/2022 7.93 miles total out and back at caesar creek state park. At half way point was over 4. It was odd day. Cold and warming morning was icy and afternoon muddy.
So start pt is after 7 before 6 and not across 73 I parked at the marina. Heading toward the perimeter trail for south part that I have hiked but did not document years ago.
The section between beach and boat ramp was flooded and had to modify path out to dry road. Will need to come back for this quick piece once dry.
This shows a section that was flooded that I will need to return to. I got most of the way and between flood and ice it was just not worth it. The section is less than one mile I think and my walk around was easy to do.
These signs are not about hiking. Continue down road.
This is where the trail turns off road to a gravel road.
These are the beach area.
Where I was getting into flood.
The other side of flooding from boat ramp.
This trail is nice and not horse it seems. Basically a connector segment to get to the first horse trail. It goes to fence power station and then a gravel road to saddle dam after that is the first horse trail of 2 this way.
The saddle dam
Here is end of saddle dam and joins a horse trail at the end of this field.
So nice versus all the icy trail still out there.
Ice and thorns on the trail side it was fun.
A remote picnic area on the trail.
This is where the switch of horse trail happens and joins what I had prior hiked.
Back to my car and view toward 73 in up coming trail.
