2/18/2024 Defiance pt14 to pt12 and past.

2/18/2024 Defiance pt14 to pt12 and past.

This was to be a weekend of Defiance hiking. It's still winter and snow got in the way. Heavy snow Friday night, so I made it up north on Saturday afternoon. I could have got some hiking in town but meet fellow hikers on Saturday for dinner at Outlaw smokehouse. A nice little BBQ place in Napoleon to discuss plan for Sunday. We gathered at Ritter Park 9am which was a bit of issue since farout calls it one spot and the sign is else where. From there we shuttled to pt14 which has a trailhead parking spot. Overall it was Dave, Victoria, Rebecca, Susan on the hike. Also Roxanna had a piece earlier and met us at pt13 and walked back to Ritter Park. This was her 1100th mile.

7.97mi hike total

Bt sections complete- completed Sinking Spring

Loveland, Ceasar Creek, Troy, Williamsburg, St. Marys, Delphos, West Union, Sinking Spring.

Bt miles 1 way based on complete sections

45.9mi + 55.1mi + 51.9mi + 51.7mi + 45.5mi + 46.5mi + 58.5mi + 53.9mi + 55.7mi = 464.7mi

nct total this year 46.68mi + 7.97mi = 54.95mi

Total for year 50.08mi + 7.97mi= 58.05mi

Today is day 49 of year, On track for 365

Many bridges they were mostly in good condition

The leaders from the start.
There are a few places the trail detours from the towpath and out to road.

What the trail looked like.  It's very nice and wide path.  Well maintained

A plaque from when the rotary club did some work to plant trees here.

Another bridge to cross the canal

Here we go under the highway

Canal markers are all up and down the path
I don't think I have seen these before.

Better view of the canal survey marker

One of a few tunnels

More beautiful trail can see the marker on the side for the canal

Love the snow.  Just not driving in it

Small road piece over the highway

Another photo on the road.
